Shirley Dorien Chambers Daniels, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at the age of 74. Shirley was born in Austin, TX to the late Floyd Chambers and Allene Clark Chambers. She spent her entire childhood in Austin, graduating from the original L.C. Anderson High School in 1968, and then attended Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. Shirley often spoke of her treasured memories with her aunts, uncles, and siblings. Shirley was a devout Christian who acknowledged that Christ was her Lord and Savior and accepted Him at an early age. Her spiritual journey included College Height Baptist Church-Rev A.C. Clark (She loved St. John Association); Greater Mt Zion-Rev. N.W. Bacon and finally Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Rev G.V. Clark. Shirley married the late Gerald W. Daniels, Sr., and they welcomed three sons Kevin Daniels, Gerald Wayne Daniels II, and the late Samuel Christian Dior Daniels. As a wife and Christian, she supported her husband Rev. Gerald W. Daniels in his ministries at Freedom Baptist Church, Fruitdale Baptist, and Antioch Baptist Church in Gainesville, TX. Shirley loved hair and makeup, so she became a Licensed Beautician and later a Certified Daycare Director at Freedom Baptist Church-Dallas, Texas. Shirley is lovingly remembered by her children: Kevin Daniels (Tracy) and Gerald W. Daniels. She will forever be cherished by her grandchildren whom she loved fiercely and dearly: Jazmyn K. Daniels, Paige Daniels, Noah P. Daniels, and Reese K. Daniels. Shirley is also survived by her siblings: Helen Patterson (Albert); Charles Chambers (Joan); Sam Chambers (Tina); Michael Chambers (Sissy); Nieces: Traci Patterson, Sade Chambers-Gallizia (Jossie); Nephews: Kedric Patterson (Kenya), Warren Chambers and a host of relatives and friends. Shirley was a lighthearted, free-spirited, social butterfly and conversationalist. She would discuss almost any subject, including the Bible. She loved gospel music and had a vast playlist. She sang in the Mt. Zion Church choir and participated in other church activities. In her later years, when she could no longer attend church, she kept the faith and viewed services on-line. One of Shirley’s favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” She would often share this verse with her children as a reminder to continuously keep the faith, no matter what. Shirley will always be remembered for her strong belief in God and love for her family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 15, 2025 at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Austin, TX at 1:00 PM.
