James Earl Fothergill – Lone Star Cremation

On Sunday, March 3rd, 2024, looked into the eyes of Jesus. James was born on November 21, 1952, on a US Air Force base in Germany where his father was stationed in the military. During his school years, he lived in Lake Worth and spent most of his free time as an attendant at the family’s gas station near Roberts Cutoff Road. He loved tinkering with his car’s engine when his father wasn’t looking. In his later years, James became an icon in downtown Fort Worth. He would often sit on Nichols Street, waving to cars passing by. His loving nature led to a great outpouring of compassion from regular commuters and local residents who would often stop to talk with him, make sure he was doing okay, or ask if he needed anything. Diana Snyder was his greatest champion, caregiver, and friend. She would often remind him how much the community loved him, and he would reply, “I’m just a bump in the road.” James was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration for his daughter Josie. He loved her dearly and always encouraged her to stay positive and courageous. James is preceded in death by his parents, William Harrison Fothergill and Emily Ann Owen Fothergill. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Josie Tiscareno, and her husband Fernando Tiscareno, as well as his grandchildren Ariel, Iris, Joslyn, and Rachael. James quoted, “I’ll fight the good fight,” referencing the Bible verse, “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.” (1 Timothy 6:12)
