I know a lot of people in funeral service.  And, I might make a wager and say that most of those that I know are humble and enjoy helping their community and the world in which we live.  Many of those people, when they look in the mirror, see somebody who has enjoyed a life of helping others and most are very engaged and excited in helping the next generation of funeral service practitioners reach their goals of “serving” also.

That’s why it is not surprising that organizations like the Funeral Service Foundation and the International Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association (ICCFA) can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to award in scholarships annually to further the educations of those who look to a future life of service in Death Care.

A recent press release from the Funeral Service Foundation notified us that “The Foundation will award up to 27 scholarships ranging from $2,500-$5,000 USD to students of funeral service, including military veterans, this fall”.

According to the press release, “The Funeral Service Foundation is accepting academic scholarship applications through November 1 at this website. Up to 27 scholarships, ranging from $2,500 – $5,000, are available to current students of funeral service and military veterans who meet the eligibility criteria. . . . .”

At Funeral Director Daily we’ve pitched in, not only with our cash donation through the Tom Johnson Memorial Classic, but by putting a free advertising spot on our website through the November 1 deadline to try to keep the momentum of giving going forward.

The Funeral Service Foundation also says in their recent press release that “Upon the announcement of the scholarship recipients in early-December, the Funeral Service Foundation will have awarded nearly $1,000,000 in academic scholarship support to 360+ exemplary students of funeral service since 2002″.
